Januari 2019: The new studio album is progressing very nicely. It feels like all recording and mixing is done. I will let it rest a bit and get going with the artwork.
The album is full of multi layered bleeps, sequences, melodies, electronic soundscapes, motorik rhythms and space weirdness. I"ve used mostly analog gear and a bit of guitar. If you liked Syrinx & Astronaut you will love this one.

September: New album on Bandcamp by Son of Ohm! Electronic Muse.
CD-r released on SynthMusicDirect.

Here are some reviews of the album:

August: New album by Phrozen Weaver!
Phrozen Weaver is the electronic improvisation duo Phrozenlight & Son of Ohm. Cosmic Message is their first album, released on CD-r & Download.

History of Phrozen Weaver…

It all started in 2006 when Von Haulshoven meets Phrozenlight and they formed “Dutch Space Mission” in 2007, playing old style Berlin School.
They did some live performances and released some albums.
In 2010 both got the idea to look for a third member to expand their sound.
So in 2011 they formed Band1971 together with
Leonardo Soundweaver.
They had made some albums with free style space music, using krautrock improvisations as base, and developed their own Grunniger School.

In 2016 there was a massive crash between the two original members (esp. Phrozenlight), due some personal differences about the organisation of the Cosmic Grunn Events.
So DSM and Band1971 disappeared from the scene.

After sometime Phrozenlight and Leonard Soundweaver (aka Son of Ohm ), still having contact, decided to organize a new Event in 2018, “The Electronic Spectrum Experience”.
Because one of the guests could not perform they needed a replacement, so they decided to form a new band: Phrozen Weaver. Without no rehearsal they made a great little show that day.
Playing Live together was once again a great feeling so they decided to make it a real band with a long future….
They will try to catch up with the sound of Band1971 , which means a lot of improvisation.
Or better “Real-time composing ” as
Thorsten Quaeschning says about Tangerine Dream’s live improvisation sessions. (a fitting name)

In the summer “Phrozen Weaver” released their first real album : “Cosmic Message”.
It is released on Neu Harmony as CD-r and on Bandcamp as download.

New (Dutch) review of Blackbirds by Carry Munter on New Underground Music

Here's a review of the Blackbirds album by Sylvain Lupari: Synth&Sequences

“Blackbirds is the perfect example of how EM was made in the early 70's”

In the first week of July I made four songs in a real nice flow. They make up a new album. I think it will be released soon, after checking and optimising mixes, mastering etc.

Electronic Muse was an idea I had in my mind for a longer time. A certain sound and flow. It just didn't happen, too busy doing other things. And then I made a new synth patch. Within four days the whole album was recorded + artwork painted, out of thin air. I spent another week for mixing, a few gliss overdubs and mastering. All in all this is a pretty spontanous album in the Berlin School style.

I always make choices which instruments to use and not to use. This time it were 5 synths, both analog and digital, two combo organs and glissando (a blissful electric guitar technique). I also used two sequencers.

New album by Son of Ohm: Blackbirds

Also released by Neu Harmony, on high quality CD-r (get it at SynthMusicDirect)

The first two songs I recorded live in my studio on two track, in preparation of the live set played at the ‘Electric Spectrum Experience’ June 16, 2018 in Groningen. Blackbirds I actually played at ESE. I added a third track, Velvet Sky, also recorded live in my studio, 2016.

'Normally I spend a lot of time building up an album in my studio. It is a process in which an album slowly grows and I have all my synths at hand'. Read more

Son of Ohm - Blackbirds

he Electric Spectrum Experience was great fun. There were some very interested visitors. People that traveled from the other side of the Netherlands and some even coming from Germany or England.

We had some problems with the P.A. in the first half; they appeared to be off... And the only sound we heard came from three stage monitors that were mono as well.... My sound was very shitty. And my performance wasn't where it should be, I was so distracted. There was a horrible loud hum in my guitar sound... The recordings went wrong, the video couldn't be played at first Luckily a friend in the audience came with a solution; he had his laptop and became member of the crew.

Well, it was a very useful experience!! All in all it wasn't too bad, and the audience anticipated very nicely.

I loved to perform on stage. There was so much happening all afternoon, it went by like a blur. Slowly it is sinking in. The nice conversations with visitors, some of them musicians who had experienced all the hassle that performing live electronics brings. The experience of playing with fellow musicians on stage, free improviation. The organisation of an event like this, keeping it all together.

Soundcheck                                                                   Phrozen Weaver

So it really made me thinking. There are many possibilities. I would be a good thing to keep on playing and developing a solid live set. I really feel like approaching this beast with the same attitude I have with Astral Son. It is inside me and has to come out! I can make studio albums forever, and I am very skilled to do so, but I need to step out. There are so many ways.

My setup for the experience!

Next Saturday (16th of June) I will do a live performance at the Electric Spectrum Experience in Groningen. It is going to be a long track in the Berlin School tradition.

Bert Hulshoff ( Phrozenlight), Arend Westra (Eagle) and Gert Blokzijl are going to play solo pieces also. In between we will do jam sessions.
These are all fine musicians who are well known in the international EM scene.
Phrozen Weaver
is a collaboration between Phrozen Light and me.

The Electric Spectrum Experience is a showcase of EM made in the North of the Netherlands. We do believe we have a unique sound because of the landscape and character of the people who live here. We are mostly inspired by the cosmic electronic music made in the seventies. Free flowing soundscaping and sequencing with lots of space for improvisation.

Oh, here's an live electronic music event...I'm going to play some as well... More later.

May 2017:

January 2017:
It has been awful quiet around here...Not in my studio. Last year I finished and released another psychedelic Astral Son album on cd & vinyl and made the second Son of Ohm album. The thing is that my studio PC broke down just after finishing the Son of Ohm. I had to get a replacement for the PC. So the mastering for the album has been postponed. I hope to get it done soon!!!

November 2016:
The new organic electronic Son of Ohm album is amazing. It's almost ready. Five analog drenched cosmic songs, only synths, organs, some electric guitar and drum machine. I've been playing around with my new Moog Synthesizer and a sequencer for a nice interactive live feel. Stay tuned!!

June 2016:
I've done a live performance at Cosmic Grunn!

Weaving some cosmic music patterns with synth, organ, sequencer & spaceguitar...

Son of Ohm
was nominated for the Schallwelle award for Best International Album and Best International Artist! That was cool!

Review by Paul Rijkens in iO Pages

Son of Ohm is organic electronic retro futuristic music. Experimental melodic kraut with trippy synth weirdness and electric space guitar magick with a slight psychedelic twist.
